Agriculture Councilor Sammartino vows to the Sicilian Regional Assembly: "Let's start again with emergencies and reforms."

With the oath of office at the Sicilian Regional Assembly (ARS), before the President of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani, Luca Sammartino, Councilor for Agriculture and Vice President of the Region, officially entered into full office.
"Let's start again from the Schifani government's priorities," the councilor said, "extraordinarily carried forward by Professor Barbagallo, whom I thank for his work and dedication during his tenure. Let's start again from what Sicilians expect today: a commitment to addressing the water emergency, thanks to the planning implemented by my predecessor, which must be continued in both western and eastern Sicily. The goal is to reduce water losses but, above all, to better support investments in agriculture. Let's also start again from the major emergencies that European policy is causing in the Sicilian fishing industry."
Among the objectives is promoting the island's food and wine excellence. "We are and will continue to support all producers who wish to bring the Sicilian brand to their tables: every meal, every Sicilian ingredient represents the identity, roots, and history of this extraordinary region. The government is committed to introducing new economic measures to ensure our companies can increasingly compete in international markets."
Sammartino then outlined his strategy of continuity with his predecessor: "The regional government will begin work in the next few hours on reforms long-awaited by producer organizations and trade unions, such as those in the forestry sector and land reclamation consortia."
